Doors — Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions Wirral homeowners ask us before committing to a new door installation.

How much does a new door cost in Wirral?

Prices vary considerably based on the door type (composite, uPVC, bifold, French or patio), the size and configuration, glass options and hardware. A straightforward composite front door is our most popular entry point. We provide an itemised written quote after a free home survey so you can see exactly what you're paying for — no hidden extras.

Are your doors FENSA-approved?

Yes. Perfect Wirral trades as Perfect Conservatories and Windows Ltd and is FENSA-registered under registration number #34055. Every door we install is certified under FENSA to meet the latest Building Regulations for thermal performance and safety. You can verify our registration on the official FENSA directory.

How secure are your doors?

Every door we install comes with multi-point locking and toughened safety glazing as standard. Composite and aluminium options are tested to PAS 24:2022 — the British Standard for enhanced security against physical attack. Sliding patio doors include an anti-lift mechanism to prevent the panels being lifted out of their track. Secured by Design upgrades are available on request.

How long does a door installation take?

A standard composite or uPVC single-door replacement typically takes half a day. French doors and patio doors are usually completed in one day. Bifold door installations take one to two days — longer if structural work (such as a lintel or RSJ) is needed to widen an existing opening.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. All our door installations come with a 10-year IWA Insurance-Backed Guarantee as standard. This protects you if anything goes wrong with the installation — and crucially, the guarantee is insured, so it remains valid even in the unlikely event that the installer ceases trading.

Can I match my new door to my existing windows?

Yes. We manufacture doors using the Eurocell uPVC profile system and can match existing uPVC window frames in the full range of colours and woodgrain finishes. Aluminium bifold doors are available in virtually any RAL colour. Dual-colour options (different inside and outside) are also available.

Do I need planning permission for a new door?

For most like-for-like door replacements — including replacing a window with French or patio doors of a similar size — planning permission is not required under permitted development rights. Listed buildings, properties in conservation areas, and cases where you're creating a significantly larger opening may need consent. We can advise during the home survey.

What areas of Wirral do you cover?

We install doors across the whole of Wirral, Cheshire West and parts of Liverpool, including Wallasey, Birkenhead, Heswall, West Kirby, Hoylake, Bebington, Prenton, Oxton, Moreton, Greasby, Irby, Upton, Neston, Parkgate, and beyond. Our base in Wallasey means we can typically get to most Wirral properties within the same week for a survey.
