Work: Full set of A-rated windows + roofline
Colour: Anthracite grey
On site: One day
When homeowners ask us what a full window replacement actually involves, we point them at a job like this one. On a semi-detached house in Wallasey, our own team took out a set of tired, draughty old windows, fitted a full set of A-rated anthracite-grey uPVC, and refreshed the roofline while we were there — all in a single day. Here’s exactly how it went, in our own photos.
Out with the old
We started by carefully removing the old frames. There’s a right way to do this: protect the room, lift the old unit out cleanly, and prep the opening so the new frame sits square and solid. Dust sheets went down in every room before we picked up a tool, and all the old mortar and debris was cleared and bagged as we went.

In with the new
Each new window was made to measure and fitted with A-rated glazing as standard — low-emissivity glass, warm-edge spacer bars and argon-filled cavities that keep the heat in and the noise out. The owners chose anthracite grey on the outside with a clean white finish inside: a modern colour that’s become one of the most popular choices on the Wirral, and one that sits well against both brick and render.

Measured, levelled and sealed
Every frame was checked square, true and level before it was fixed, then every join was weatherproofed by hand. It’s the unglamorous part of the job — but it’s exactly what stops draughts and leaks two winters down the line.

While we were up there — the roofline
With the team already on site and set up, we also replaced the roofline: new fascias, soffits and guttering to match. It’s a job that’s easy to put off until the guttering starts leaking — and doing it alongside the windows meant one visit, one tidy-up, and a finish that ties the whole front of the house together.

The finish
By the end of the day the difference was clear: brighter rooms flooded with natural light, crystal-clear views out over the garden and street, and a fresh, sharp look from the kerb. Everything was cleaned up before we left — no mess, no half-finished corners, no return trips.
